To stay at Carmel Homestay is to experience friendship, enjoy homemade delights and have some friendly conversation with the well-travelled Joseph who will share with you the exciting stories from his life over a cup of chai or coffee. He makes certain that boredom has no place in this home and his beloved wife Maria cooks up a storm in the kitchen and will make sure you never go hungry in her home. They are both veteran hospitality professionals.
After a hard-won 35-year career Joseph decided to retire in Bangalore and built his family a home he felt they all deserved. He had always meant his home to be run as a homestay and so they've been running the homestay business for the last 15 years.
The property features a tree-lined garden with a gazebo and a water lily pond overlooked by a meditating Buddha, sitting here among fruit trees and dapples of the afternoon sun, chaos and worries of work will simply seem insignificant. Everybody deserves an afternoon of peaceful and personal contemplation.
Inside the house is a two-story central courtyard built to depict the aesthetic Kerala style of architecture. You don't have to worry about choosing a room that faces the courtyard because all of them do. There are many spectacles on display in this house of theirs and a few are hidden so please don't feel shy to ask Joseph about it.
Hidden among the trees is Marias' art studio. You are more than welcome to paint with her of course and free to take home any masterpiece you concoct. Maria's art is on sale, and she has a story for each one of them. If you wish to take one of hers home feel free to ask her.
